Bad breath, a film you can taste, a denture that never feels clean?
Denture care · Special report
Bad breath, a film you can taste, gums that never feel quite settled?
What if the problem isn't how hard you clean your denture — but what you're cleaning it with?
Most dentures trap plaque, bacteria and residue deep inside thousands of micro-grooves you cannot see with the naked eye. Worn day after day, that buildup sits against your gums — and goes straight back into your mouth every single morning.
Add to that what changes with age: less saliva, gums that are more easily irritated, a mouth that simply defends itself less well than it did at forty. The same buildup a younger mouth shrugs off becomes something you notice all day long.
Still not comfortable? It isn't your fault.
You brush every morning. You soak overnight. And by lunchtime there's that film again.
You're not doing it wrong. Acrylic isn't smooth — under magnification it looks less like glass and more like a sponge. A brush only cleans what it can touch, and a tablet dissolves what it reaches, then leaves its own film behind.
The ultrasonic and UV system in Wrenella Pure lifts the buildup that brushing and tablets leave behind — including deep inside the grooves.
The same partial denture, five minutes apart. Look at the clasps, the grooves, the underside and the metal junctions — the four places a brush never reaches.
After sixty, a properly clean denture matters more, not less
A denture that isn't cleaned deeply puts yesterday's bacteria back in your mouth tomorrow morning. Quietly. Every day. And you won't notice it as buildup — you'll notice it as breath that doesn't stay fresh, a taste that lingers, an appliance that never feels properly clean.
That's what Wrenella Pure is for:
- Lifts the embedded film and bacteria that ordinary cleaning never reaches
- Cleans the grooves, the underside of the plate and around every clasp
- Reduces the bacteria you put back in your mouth each morning
- Leaves no chemical film and no aftertaste — just clean
- No scrubbing at all, so nothing scratches or wears the surface
Most people notice it inside the first week: a denture that feels smooth against the gums again, breath that stays fresher, and no more taste of tablet at eleven in the morning.

Works a treat on my partial denture. Clasps come out spotless and the plate feels smoother. Quiet as well which is a nice bonus.
Everything you've been told to use has the same limit
- Cleaning tablets dissolve what they reach, then leave their own film — the one you can taste.
- A toothbrush only cleans what it can touch, and scratches what it does touch.
- Vinegar and bicarbonate of soda are abrasive. They dull acrylic and wear it down over time.
- Adhesive cream holds your denture in place. It doesn't clean anything.
None of them reach inside the grooves. That isn't a failure of effort — it's a limit of the method.

What changes when you use it every day
The water goes cloudy. Most people are taken aback by how much comes off something they thought was clean.

No more tablet film and no aftertaste. Your denture feels smooth against your gums again, and your breath stays fresher through the day.
The morning routine has changed. Fill it, press the button, make your tea. No scrubbing, no sore wrists.
Staining looks noticeably reduced. You stop checking before you go out.
Your denture still looks like it did on day one — because nothing has been rubbing against it every morning.
No more tablets to buy. An appliance that hasn't been scrubbed, scratched or worn down for twelve months.
And the best part
Not one extra step in your day. You already clean your denture every morning. This simply does it properly — while you make the tea.
Denture cleaning hasn't changed in sixty years
The fizzy tablet was invented in the 1950s. The soft brush, long before that. The overnight soak, the same. To put that in context: it was before the internet, before mobile phones, before the MRI scanner.
And yet denture wearers are still told to use the same three things.
Meanwhile, dental practices and hospitals have used ultrasonic cleaning and UV disinfection for years. It's what they rely on to lift plaque and clean their instruments properly.
Ultrasonic cleaning is standard practice in dental surgeries.
The big oral care brands are in no hurry to mention it. They'd rather keep selling tablets, soaks and promises than admit that the real issue is the buildup your current routine simply cannot reach.
We took a different view. Clean the denture properly, and let your mouth do the rest.
Wrenella Pure uses the same ultrasonic and UV method dental professionals have relied on for years. It isn't another tablet or another soak — it's practice-grade cleaning, designed to reach the microscopic pores where buildup hides, and small enough to live on your bathroom shelf.

The science behind a denture that's actually clean
Wrenella Pure sends ultrasonic waves through plain tap water at 42,000 vibrations per second. Far too fast to hear — but fast enough to form millions of microscopic bubbles throughout the tank.
Each bubble collapses the instant it meets your denture, releasing a tiny burst of energy that lifts plaque, bacteria and residue off the surface. Because the bubbles are smaller than the grooves in your denture, they reach the places no brush can: under the plate, around every clasp, into every crevice. The UV lamp finishes the job.
It's called cavitation. Nothing ever physically touches your denture.
No damage to your denture. None.
This is the question everyone asks first, and it deserves a straight answer.
Ultrasonic cleaning is completely non-abrasive — it's the water that does the work. Unlike brushing, which scratches and weakens the surface over time, Wrenella Pure cleans gently, in every groove, without any physical contact. Safe on acrylic, metal and clasps.
Worth remembering: a replacement denture costs £332 on the NHS, and up to £1,500 privately. Five minutes a day protects it.
Full dentures, partials, metal-framed dentures, retainers and night guards.
Four simple steps
- Fill with water. Fill the tank and plug it in.
- Add your denture. Place it inside and press the start button.
- Close the lid. Wait five minutes. Wrenella Pure does the work.
- Take it out. Give it a rinse, and you're done.
One cycle, five minutes, plain tap water.

Your questions, answered
Could this damage my denture?
No. Ultrasonic cleaning is completely non-abrasive — nothing ever touches your denture. It's the water that does the work. Unlike brushing, which scratches and weakens the surface over time, Wrenella Pure cleans gently, in every groove, without any physical contact. Safe on acrylic, metal and clasps.
Can't I just use cleaning tablets?
Using only a tablet is a bit like using toothpaste without a brush. Tablets act on the surface: the buildup deep in the grooves stays where it is, and the tablet leaves a film that many people can taste. Wrenella Pure works mechanically — millions of microbubbles reach into every crevice and carry the residue away.
What about cleaning it with a toothbrush?
A brush only reaches what it can touch. The underside of the plate, the ridges, the area around each clasp — those stay untouched however long you scrub. And bristles scratch acrylic, which is what leaves a denture looking cloudy over the years.
Will it shift stubborn stains?
Yes. The microbubbles lift tea, coffee and tobacco staining within the first few cycles. For older marks, simply run a second cycle — the cleaning is completely non-abrasive, so you can repeat it as often as you like.
Will it still be working in a year?
Yes — and it's a fair question, because most ultrasonic cleaners sold online are built to a price. Thin housings, unsealed electronics, transducers that give up after a few months. Wrenella Pure is built the other way round: a stainless steel tank, a sealed unit, and components chosen to last rather than to hit a price point. Every unit comes with a 2-year warranty on top of your 60 days to change your mind.
Is it difficult to use?
No. Fill it with water, place your denture inside, press one button. Five minutes later, lift it out and give it a rinse. Nothing to programme, nothing to twist shut, no small controls to fiddle with.
Is it safe to use in the bathroom?
Yes. Wrenella Pure runs on low-voltage USB power rather than being wired into the mains, and the tank is fully sealed. As with any electrical item, simply avoid submerging the base.
What else can I clean in it?
Retainers, aligners, night guards and bite guards — and beyond dental appliances, spectacles, watch straps and jewellery. Plenty of customers clean their glasses and their denture in the same five minutes.
Do I need special cleaning fluid?
No, and that's rather the point. Plain tap water is all it needs: no chemicals, no tablets, no ongoing cost. For a heavily stained denture, a single drop of washing-up liquid is more than enough.
